Description
Northgate House, located in Bridgwater, is a building that has been converted into shops and offices. It dates from the early to mid 19th century and was restored in the 1980s. The structure features Flemish-bond brickwork, with a stone cornice and band, a doorcase, and some window cills. It has a mansard roof covered with pantiles, which includes 20th-century dormers, and brick stacks at the gable ends and left of the central ridge. The building is two storeys tall with an attic and has a symmetrical three-window range, with an additional range to the left. The windows are 20th-century 6/6-pane sashes set in forward frames, while the window to the left of the door is an 8/8-pane sash. The doorcase is open pedimented and features a decorative fanlight above a six-panel door with added moulding. The left side of the building has two 20th-century circular attic windows. The rear, facing Angel Crescent, has 20th-century 8/8-pane sash windows on the first floor and three shopfronts from the 1980s on the ground floor. The interior has been altered.
