Description

No. 21 Church Street is a house that dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with a remodel and extension to the left in the early 18th century. The right side was originally timber-framed, while the late 18th century features colourwashed brick on the late 16th century block, and early 18th century Flemish bond brick with flared headers on the left. The house has an old tile roof and brick stacks.

It has a three-unit plan and is two storeys to the left, with two storeys and an attic on the gable end of the late 16th century block on the right, featuring a three-window range. There is a late 19th century moulded cornice above a 20th century door with an overlight, and a late 19th century ten-pane window. The windows have segmental header arches and a timber lintel over a late 19th century three-light casement, while there is an 18th century three-light leaded casement at the top of the right gable wall. The roof is gabled to the right and half-hipped to the left, with a left ridge stack and two right lateral stacks.

At the rear left, there is an early 19th century four-panelled door. Inside, there is an ovolo-moulded beam and exposed timber framing on the right. The roof and left rooms have not been inspected but are likely to be of interest.
