Description
The Parish of Wantage Church Infants School is a school building constructed in 1850 by Woodyer. It is made of coursed and squared limestone with limestone ashlar dressings, and it features a 20th-century tiled roof and a stone stack. The building is designed in an L-shape, consisting of one storey and an attic with a two-bay range.
On the right side, there is a chamfered pointed arch that leads to 20th-century double doors. The turret above has two splayed one-light windows and is topped with a half-pyramidal hipped roof. The gable wall of the left wing includes a round-headed lancet and a hood mould above a four-light window with a central transom and cusped heads, as well as a similar square-headed cross window. The right side wall and the rear of the left gable wing also feature similar windows.
There are 20th-century extensions to the upper level of the stairwell located to the right of the door, which has a gabled roof and a gable end stack to the right. Inside, the original roof is preserved in the left room.
