Description
No. 11 Gorwell is a house dating from the 17th century, which was remodeled in the mid-19th century. Originally timber-framed, it is now rendered and features a gabled old tile roof with rendered end stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with a two-window range. There is a blocked door and 19th-century horned sash windows, along with dentilled eaves. To the left, there is a 20th-century door leading to a mid-19th-century extension that has one storey and an attic, with a two-window range made of colourwashed brick and a gabled old tile roof. At the rear, there is an early 19th-century wing that is one storey and an attic, with a one-bay range built of Flemish bond brick and a gabled old tile roof. Inside, the ground floor features ogee-stopped chamfered beams, and there is a ribbed door on the first floor. The exposed timber framing is notable, and while the roof has not been inspected, it is likely to be of interest. The building is included for its group value.
