Description

Reed's Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with enlargements made in the 17th century. At the time of the survey in May 1983, it was undergoing major repairs. The building features red sandstone random rubble that is partially rendered, a pantile roof, and stone stacks located at the left and right gable ends as well as to the left of the cross passage. It has a three-cell and cross passage layout facing south, with a staircase turret at the rear that contains a straight flight of stairs, and an addition at the northwest corner. The farmhouse is two stories tall, with window openings being restored during the survey; there are four windows on the first floor, one window on the ground floor to the right of the cross passage entrance, three in the center, and one that lights the smoke bay to the left of an inserted entrance.

Inside, the west end room features a chamfered bressumer across the smoke bay, along with chamfered beams that have stops. The center room has a six-panel moulded compartment ceiling, complete with moulded sub quartering and moulded rafters. The bedroom at the south end of the first floor contains a fireplace recess that is painted with colored geometric designs. The farmhouse also has a jointed cruck roof.
