Description
This is a range of barns located about 20 metres north-west of Yeabridge House, dating from the 18th century with modifications from the 19th century. The barns are constructed from roughly cut and squared Ham stone, with ashlar dressings, and feature hipped plain clay tiled roofs over stone slate base courses. A weathervane is positioned at the angle of the roof. The structure has an 'L' plan and is mostly two storeys high.
The south range consists of six bays, with bays 2, 3, 4, and 5 featuring elliptical arches with keystones; the middle pair of arches are now blocked. Bay 2 has a 2-light chamfer-mullioned window, and there are doorways in bays 2, 4, and 6, with a smaller door in upper bay 1, accessible by a stone staircase.
The north range also has six bays, with 20th-century windows in lower bays 1 and 3, and a tall elliptical-arched doorway in bay 2. Bays 4 and 6 have mullioned windows with vertical iron bars on both levels, topped with labels. There is a 20th-century doorway in lower bay 4 on the right, while bay 5 features elliptical-arched doorways at both levels, with a stone staircase leading to the upper door. The roof is supported by scissor trusses. Additionally, there is an outbuilding at the rear, which has a drive shaft for machinery mounted along the wall, likely engine-driven.
