Description
Thatched Cottage is a cottage located at the north end of a row of three cottages in Over Stratton, South Petherton. It is probably from the 18th century and is constructed of ham stone rubble with ashlar dressings. The cottage features a thatched roof with a stepped, coped gable at the north end and a continuation on the south side, along with brick chimney stacks. It is a single-storey building with an attic and has four bays.
The exterior includes hollow-chamfered mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses, consisting of two, three, three, and two lights, all under a shared label. There are also three-light casement windows of an early pattern located in thatched dormers above the second bay and between the third and fourth bays. The entrance is situated in the north gable, which has two 20th-century casement windows. The front wall appears to have been partly rebuilt, and there is a lean-to structure at the rear. The interior has not been seen.
