Description

West End House is a detached house dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. The exterior is faced with finely dressed Ham stone ashlar, with a Welsh slate roof laid over a stone slate base course. The gables are stepped and topped with coping. The house has two storeys and three bays. It features windows with a simple, beaded mullion design, set within plain architraves, all with three lights and iron frames. The lower bay of the second bay contains a six-panel door set within a semi-circular arched opening with a radially-glazed fanlight, framed by a simple architrave, and sheltered by an open stone porch supported by pairs of very slim Tuscan columns carrying a plain entablature. Two semi-circular arched windows, framed by architraves and decorated with 'Y'-traceried beads, are evident in the north gable. Modern windows are present in the south gable. The interior remains unexamined.
