Description

Herontye and Hollands Orchard are two cottages located in a row of three at the center and south end, likely built in the 18th century. They are constructed from roughly cut and squared ham stone and feature a thatched roof that extends to the north, with a stepped coped gable at the south end and brick chimney stacks. The cottages are two storeys high with four bays and irregular window arrangements.

Herontye has three bays and includes 20th-century casement windows flanking a part-glazed door set in a deep recess, all under timber lintels. Above, there is a 20th-century casement and two early pattern three-light casements, one of which has an iron-framed opening light and is partly set into the thatch. Hollands Orchard, separated by a straight joint, consists of a single bay. It features a three-light horizontal-bar casement window with a timber lintel below, along with a small 20th-century casement inserted to the left. Above is a three-light early pattern casement, also partly set into the thatch. The cottages have a pitched roofed porch with single Roman clay tiles against the south gable and 20th-century casements above. There are lean-to buildings at the rear of both properties, but the interiors were not seen.
