Description
The Churchyard Cross, located 6 metres south of the Church of St John the Baptist, is a cross that likely dates from the 15th century. It is made of Ham stone and consists of two steps, a base, and a fragment of a shaft. The lower step is moulded, measuring approximately 1.7 metres square and 450 mm high, while the upper step is about 1.2 metres square and 225 mm high. The cross base is around 600 mm square and 400 mm high, and the shaft is octagonal with run-outs to the chamfers, standing about 250 mm high. This information is referenced in Pooley's "Old Crosses of Somerset," published in 1877.
