Description

Hardings is a house built around 1865, with an extension added in the 1890s. It is constructed of stone rubble with freestone dressing and features a plain tile roof with stone coping on the gable ends. The building has brick axial and gable-end stacks topped with stone caps. The layout consists of a long main front range that includes three principal rooms and an entrance hall at the center, with the staircase located at the back. To the left of the dining room is the kitchen, and to the right of the drawing room is the billiard room, which was added in the 1890s.

The exterior is two stories high with an asymmetrical five-window south front. It features one, two, three, and four-light moulded stone mullion windows with casements and leaded panes. The ground floor has a continuous stringcourse that rises above the windows and doorway to create hoodmoulds. Two first-floor windows are set in small gables and have raised center lights with hoodmoulds. The central entrance has a moulded four-centred arch doorway with a plank door. At the rear, there are four staggered gables, with the outer ones being projecting wings. The center gable has a gabled wooden hood over a bell and ornate bargeboards. On the left gable-end facing the road, there is a corbelled brick stack.

Inside, the simple interior remains largely unaltered, featuring plank doors, simple chimneypieces, and a cantilevered stone staircase with wrought-iron balusters.
