Description

The base of the churchyard cross, located 12 metres south of the vestry door of the Church of St Nicholas, dates from the late 13th century. It is made of ham stone and features an octagonal base with a slight nosing that is somewhat sunken, and a top that slopes. The octagonal shaft rises to about 1 metre high and has flat broach stops. This information is referenced in Pooley's "Old Crosses of Somerset," published in 1877.
