Description
Henstridge House is a detached house dating from the early 19th century, situated in a commanding position in the centre of the village. It is constructed of rendered and colourwashed materials, with a Welsh slate roof featuring wide eaves and a prominent central belvedere, and has brick chimney stacks. The original house is two storeys with an attic, and comprises three bays by three bays, with a later, taller extension to the east.
The west-facing entrance front has a plinth and band course, as well as an eaves moulding. The central entrance features a six-panelled door with a cast iron semi-circular fanlight, set within a tall, semi-circular arched recess that rises into an open segmental pediment. The recess is flanked by wide pilasters which incorporate blind windows at both floor levels on each side. Above the door is a small-pane sash window with a semi-circular head, also set within the arched recess. Other elevations generally feature 16- and 12-pane sash windows in plain openings. A large, semi-circular headed stair window is located on the north elevation. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
