Description

This is a thatched cottage dating from the 17th or 18th century, situated in Barrington village. The cottage is rendered and whitewashed, with a coped verge to the thatch roof and two brick stacks. It is a single-story building with an attic, and has two bays. The windows are casements with square-paned leaded lights. A door opening is located to the right, featuring a 20th-century half-glazed door and a thatched hood supported by rustic poles. There is a weatherboarded outshut to the left, containing paired plank doors. The interior retains some original features, including panelling, ceiling beams, and an early roof. An unpublished report by the former Visiting Architect’s Group documented these features.
