Description
The Laurels is a detached cottage dating from the 18th century, constructed of cut and squared Ham stone with ashlar dressings. It features a thatched roof with a plain north gable and a stepped coped gable to the south, along with brick chimney stacks at each end. The building has two storeys and an attic, with three bays. The windows are plain beaded mullioned types set in shallow architraves, with three-light windows in the outer bays and a two-light window in the upper bay. Below the windows is a six-flush-panel door framed by a moulded architrave, situated under an open timber and thatched roof. There is a casement window in the attic of the north gable, and a thatched and rendered rear extension from the 19th century, which includes a shallow two-storey bay window on the north side. The interior has not been seen. The front boundary to the east is marked by railings with necked spikes set on a low ashlar wall, which has a short return at the north end. There is a pair of matching gates opposite the doorway, hung on metal posts topped with cast urns.
