Description
No. 27 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from around 1800. The exterior features a render that is scribed to resemble blockwork, with ashlar end pilasters and dressed stone detailing. It has a slate roof with a moulded eaves cornice, brick stacks at either end, and coped verges. The main facade facing Paul Street is three stories high and has five bays, with sash windows that include glazing bars set within moulded architraves. To the right, there is a late 19th-century shopfront. The central doorway has a semi-circular arch with a plain surround and is topped by an open triangular pediment supported by Tuscan pilasters. The door itself is a six-panelled design with a decorated fanlight above. The building also has a two-window return to High Street, featuring another late 19th-century shopfront at the ground floor.
