Description
No. 14 High Street is a shop and house dating from around 1800. It is constructed from local stone rubble that is rendered on the front and colorwashed, with painted ashlar dressings. The building features a plain clay tile mansard roof and brick chimney stacks at each end. It has two storeys and two bays. The lower bay 1 has a 19th-century shopfront with a slightly bowed display window flanked by wooden pilasters. Above the display window is a thin projecting fascia on console brackets that extends over the central six-panel double doors, which are accessed by three steps and have a plain surround that ends in two additional console brackets. Bay 2 features a 24-pane shop window beneath a slim fascia. Above this, there are 16-pane sash windows set in architraved surrounds, with a simple projecting sign and ironwork positioned between them. The interior has not been seen.
