Description
No 8 High Street is a shop and house from the 18th century that has undergone significant alterations. The building features painted brickwork in Flemish bond and painted ashlar stone dressings, topped with a plain clay tile roof supported by abutments and flanked by brick end chimney stacks. It stands two storeys high and has three bays. The façade includes rusticated pilasters and double 12-pane sash windows in architraved surrounds with plain mullions in the upper bays. The first bay has a similar window but with the mullion removed, while the second bay features a wide opening with six glazed doors, plain pilasters, and a fascia. The third bay has a 20th-century shop window. The interior has not been seen, but the building is included in the register primarily for its group value.
