Description

This is an early 18th-century shop with a house above, located on the south side of High Street in Wincanton. The building is constructed of local stone, with a rendered facade framed by ashlar detailing. It has a plain clay tile roof with simple gables and brick chimney stacks. The building is three storeys high and two bays wide. The shopfront was replaced in the early 20th century and features a central recessed doorway with marble stall risers, large windows, panelled pilasters with rosette motifs, and a dentilled cornice hood. Above the shop, there are twelve-pane sash windows in plain openings. The building extends considerably to the rear, where the side elevation has been altered in the early 20th century. The interior remains unseen.
