Description
No. 13 Market Place is a shop with a house above, dating from the early 19th century. The building is rendered and colourwashed, likely featuring a flat roof behind a parapet. It is designed in the Regency style and consists of three storeys with two bays. The structure has a plinth, a rusticated ground floor, a string course, and a band course above the second floor, topped by a shallow parapet with plain coping. The shop front appears to be mostly original, featuring central French-style entrance doors set in a slightly segmental arched recess, accessed by two steps. The shop windows are almost Venetian in style, consisting of three lights with slim flat head sidelights and a semi-circular arched centre light, divided by cast iron barley-sugar twist columns with small capitals. The stall risers have half-ellipse openings with radial cast iron grilles. To the left, there is a four-panel door under a plain fanlight, also in a recess and accessed by two steps. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, while the second floor features three-pane sashes, all within plain surrounds. The interior has not been seen.
