Description
The Midland Bank, originally a house, dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of local stone that is cut and roughly squared, with painted ashlar dressings. The building features a plain clay tile roof with simple verges and brick chimney stacks. It has two storeys with attics and is arranged in three bays. The exterior includes a plinth, rusticated quoins, and eaves cornices. Most of the ground floor has 20th-century composite timber windows flanking a six-panel door that is accessed by two steps. This door is set with a fanlight in a semi-circular sub-arch, surrounded by attached Tuscan columns and an open pediment. Above, there are 12-pane sash windows in architraved surrounds, with the window in the first bay widened on both sides with four-pane lights. The building also has two pitched roof dormers featuring 16-pane sash windows. The interior has not been seen.
