Description

This is a range of farm buildings at Townsend Farm, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. The buildings are constructed from red sandstone random rubble and blue lias, with some areas roughcast. The northern end has a half hipped slate roof, while a corrugated iron roof adjoins it, and the other buildings have slate roofs. The long range of buildings extends approximately 90 meters, backing onto the road and running from the northwest to the southeast. It includes a loft over a stable, a byre, a double barn, and outbuildings that connect to Townsend Cottages at the southern end. The loft over the stable features two unglazed wooden mullioned windows, the byre has two segmental headed openings, and the barn has double doors, with the rest of the structure being unlit. The foldyard side is only partially visible. These farm buildings are primarily listed for their contribution to the street scene, particularly the rear elevation.
