Description
Numbers 24A to 29 and Numbers 1 to 6 Vivary Apartments are a row of attractive two-storey houses built in the early 19th century and later, featuring stucco exteriors and gardens that overlook Vivary Park. The block of Vivary Apartments, which includes Nos 1 to 6, is situated at the rear of No 29 Mount Street, facing north towards High Street. The frontages on Mount Street are primarily made of colourwashed rubble, topped with mostly old tile roofs of varying heights, while the northern end has a higher hipped slate roof. The buildings exhibit some mid-19th century Gothic details, particularly at the north end, where there are pointed lights and rectangular drip moulds. Most windows are sashes with glazing bars. Numbers 25 and 26 feature wooden doorcases with two-panel doors. This group of buildings is significant as it is located on the edge of Vivary Park. All the listed buildings on Mount Street form a cohesive group with the School, Unitarian Chapel, the Lawn, Mary Street House, the listed buildings in Vivary Park, Wilton House in Hammets Walk, and Numbers 1 to 14 Upper High Street.
