Description
Nos 2 to 4 Upper High Street are a terrace of stucco houses from the early 19th century, located next to No 1 and facing Vivary Park. No 2 is slightly set forward and has two storeys, while the other houses have two storeys plus a basement. The roofs are hipped and covered with slate, featuring projecting eaves on Nos 3 and 4, which also include plain pilasters. Each house has four or five windows; No 2 has rectangular hoodmoulds and sash windows, while No 4 features casements with some Gothic heads above the lights. No 2 has a verandah with a rear-to roof supported by brackets, and No 4 has a trellised verandah at the basement level. A high wall with a round-headed doorway runs along the street, connecting to No 5.
These houses, along with Nos 1 to 14 Upper High Street, the listed buildings in Vivary Park, and those on Mount Street, form a group with the School, Unitarian Chapel, The Lawn, Mary Street House in Mary Street, and Wilton House with an ornamental column in Hammets Walk.
