Description
No 5, Upper High Street is a long stucco house dating from the early 19th century, facing Vivary Park. It has two storeys plus a basement and features a slate roof. The façade includes plain pilasters and a gabled extension that projects forward at the center. There are five sash windows with glazing bars, some of which have rectangular hoodmoulds. To the west, there is a two-storey extension with single lights flanked by niches. A round-headed doorway and a wall with pilasters extend west along the street to connect with No 6.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 14 Upper High Street, the listed buildings in Vivary Park, Mount Street, the School, Unitarian Chapel, The Lawn, Mary Street House in Mary Street, and Wilton House along with an ornamental column in Hammets Walk.
