Description
Temple Methodist Church and Temple Methodist Schools were built in 1868 by J. Wilson. The church features a gable end facing the street and has a two-storey front made of white brick with ashlar dressings. Diagonal buttresses with setoffs flank the central section, while polygonal turrets are located at the outer sections. The building has a cornice with some sculptured details and a gable parapet with finials, along with a quatrefoil in the gable and a stringcourse. Above the entrance, there is a large traceried three-light window, and the other windows are simple two-light traceried designs. The central pointed doorway has a moulded surround, and there are additional pointed doorways in the turrets. To the left, there is a two-window extension in a similar Decorated style. The three-window gable end of Wesleyan Temple Schools, which was rebuilt in 1868, is attached on the right. Temple Methodist Church and Schools, along with Nos 42 and 43, form a group.
