Description
Forde House is a late 18th century to early 19th century building located on the south side of Upper High Street. It is a two-storey structure with a stucco front and a hipped old tile roof. The façade features three sash windows with glazing bars. To the right of the windows is a doorway with a doorcase that has an open pediment, a traceried fanlight, and double doors with nine panes. There is a lower extension to the right that does not have windows and has a slate roof. Additionally, there is a second doorcase with an open pediment, a traceried fanlight, and a six-panel door, which may be slightly later in date. Forde House is part of a group of listed buildings that includes Nos 1 to 14 Upper High Street, the listed buildings in Vivary Park and Mount Street, as well as the School, Unitarian Chapel, The Lawn, Mary Street House in Mary Street, and Wilton House with an ornamental column in Hammets Walk.
