Description

The Sibley monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 2 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary Major. It dates from the 17th century and is made of Ham stone. The tomb features a clumsy moulded base, plain sides, and a rudimentary plain frieze. It has a deep cyma-recta coving leading to a shallow hipped top. The monument commemorates members of the Sibley family, although only 19th-century dates are legible.
