Description

The Apsey Chest Tomb, located 1 metre west of the south porch of the Church of Saint Mary, is a chest tomb that likely dates from the 18th century. It is made of Ham stone and has a rectangular shape. The tomb features a moulded base, with fielded panels on the ends and a single fielded panel on each side, accented by triple panelled pilasters. The top of the tomb is a moderate size with a hipped design. It commemorates Grace, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Apsey, who died in 1666, with other dates from the 18th century. The style of the monument suggests it was created in the 18th century.
