Description
The cottages at 8 and 10 Station Road, Williton, date to the 17th century, with alterations in the 19th century and late 20th century. No. 8 is constructed with a roughcast finish, appearing as ashlar, with prominent quoin strips and a pantiled roof, although concrete tiles are visible at the rear. The roof has coped verges and brick stacks. The layout is of a two-cell design with a cross passage and an outshot at the rear. The two-storey, four-bay facade features two-light casement windows, except for a single-light window in the right-hand end bay. The ground floor has a central plank door with a gabled brick porch built with bricks laid diagonally and painted. To the right, and at a right angle, is a smaller, independently thatched and roughcast cottage, No. 10, with a large external stepped stack to the left gable end. No. 10 is two storeys high and has a one-bay link. Its three bays feature 20th-century two-light casement windows. A central glazed porch and an earlier plank door are present, and the left return has an attached shelter shed. The interior of either cottage has not been inspected.
