Description

The main entrance gate piers and gates, located 36 metres southeast of Westlake House, date from the 19th century and are constructed from Ham stone. The structure features three gate piers, each with octagonal bases approximately 300mm high and circular shafts about 600mm in diameter, standing 3 metres tall. The main piers are topped with octagonal pointed caps, while the subsidiary pier at the end of the main boundary wall has a circular cap. Between the main piers, there is a pair of 19th-century wrought iron gates that are about 3 metres wide. These gates are decorated with wavy spikes, scroll designs on the middle rails, and ogee curve bracing. The gates were relocated around 1980 from a roadside position and are significant to the street scene and the context of Westlake House.
