Description
A cottage with origins in the 17th century, located on the north side of High Street, West Coker. The cottage is constructed from local stone rubble with Ham stone dressings, and has Bridgwater patent triple angle clay tiles with plain boarded verges. It also features brick end and intermediate chimney stacks. The main block is two storeys and three bays wide, with a two-bay western extension that continues the building’s line. The lower bays contain hollow-chamfered mullioned windows of three lights, with internal vertical iron bars and labels above. A plain boarded entrance door is set within a heavy frame. Elsewhere, there are two- and three-light casement windows with horizontal glazing bars and exposed timber lintels. A straight joint marks the division between bays one and two. The western extension includes a three-light unglazed timber window with old ironwork, boarded up internally, and above it a small opening with double boarded doors. To the right is a large opening with a later metal grille, also internally boarded. The interior of the cottage was not inspected.
