Description
The Stogursey war memorial is a First World War memorial, erected around 1920, and altered after the Second World War. It is made of stone and features a coped calvary on a tapering, octagonal shaft, which is set on a square plinth. This is all placed on an octagonal platform with two steps.
The front face of the base is inscribed with the words: "IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR LEST WE FORGET JESU MERCY PRAY FOR THE SOULS OF (NAMES) MDCCCXIV MDCCCXIX." The right face bears the inscription: "ALSO IN HONOURED MEMORY OF (NAMES) WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939 – 1945 WE WILL REMEMBER THEM."
