Description
The main entrance gateway and side walling to Moorlands, also known as Glen House, dates from the 19th century and is possibly designed by the architect Sir George Gilbert Scott. Constructed from ham stone ashlar, the walling stands about 1.25 metres high and features a moulded plinth and roll-top angled coping. The wall sweeps into a serpentine double curve leading to the gateway, which is marked by square gate piers with diagonally set sub-piers, a double step, and hipped moulded tops. The gateway includes a pair of probably early 20th-century cast iron gates. This structure is included primarily for its group value with Moorlands.
