Description
The Lodge is a detached cottage from the 19th century, possibly designed by the architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, who also worked on Moorlands. The building is constructed from cut and squared Ham stone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof with plain overhung gables. It has brick chimney stacks in pairs, set diagonally on square bases.
The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays, with the central bay being a narrow, gabled projection. The windows are hollow-chamfer mullioned, set in chamfered recesses. On the ground floor, the third bay has a three-light window, while the first bay features a single-storey angled bay with a hipped stepped stone roof, consisting of one light, three lights, and one light. The first floor has three and two-light windows in bays one and three, respectively, and a single-light window with a label in the upper second bay. All windows are rectangular and leaded.
The second bay on the ground floor has a plain chamfered doorway with a label, which is stepped up over a plain shield plaque. There are also two two-light windows without labels in the north gable. The interior has not been seen. The building is marked as Lilac Lodge on the Ordnance Survey map.
