Description

The Elizabeth Knight monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 7 metres south of the porch of the Church of St Aldhelm and St Eadburgha in Broadway Village. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of Ham stone. The tomb features a ledger top, a moulded cornice, and a plinth. The end pilasters are divided into three unequal sections and have raised and fielded panels. The north side is inscribed to John Hayes, who died in 1817, while the south side is dedicated to Elizabeth Knight, who died in 1750. The east and west ends of the tomb are plain.
