Description
The walls and gate to the Parish Church of St Michael date from the 19th century. They consist of rubblestone walls and a timber lychgate with a tiled roof. The walls on the south and east sides are substantial retaining walls; the southern wall is approximately 3 meters high and 100 meters long, and it flanks the steps leading to the west end of the church. At the south corner of the east wall, there is a late 19th-century plain-tiled lychgate supported by red sandstone piers. The eastern wall extends about 50 meters and increases in height in five steps from approximately 2 meters to 3 meters. Ivy-covered rubblestone walls enclose the north and west sides of the churchyard.
