8/49 House attached to rear of No 24 High Street

GV II House, part of row. C16 modified. Timber frame with rendered panels on local stone rubble base, colourwashed; stone slate roof with plain South gable; brick end chimney stack. Timber frame with close studding jettied first floor on 5 curved brakcets; 2 storeys, 4 bays. Bay 1 has late C20 glazed door in cambered arched opening with timber head; lower bays 2, 3 and 4 have late C20 single light casements; above 2-light casement spanning bays 1 and 2, another to bay 3 and a single light to bay 4. Interior much altered, with modern stairs, but roof is arched braced with curved wind braces.
