Description

This is a house and shop, situated in a row along the High Street. It likely dates from the 18th century, or possibly earlier, and has undergone modifications over time. The exterior is constructed from local stone, which has been rendered and is lined with ashlar details and colourwashed. The roof is covered with concrete double-Roman tiles and features a plain east gable and a brick chimney stack. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The first bay includes a two-storey angled bay window with pairs of four-pane sash windows under a lead flat roof. The second and third bays contain small-pane timber casements on the upper floor and a shopfront of uncertain date below. This shopfront incorporates a plain window and recessed doors on either side. The roof appears to be continuous with numbers 18-20 High Street, suggesting a possible 16th-century timber framework. The interior remains unexamined.
