Description

Milestone located in Norton Fitzwarren village, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. This milestone is made of cast iron and has a triangular section that is hollow with an angled top. It stands about 150 millimeters high and 350 millimeters wide. The top features inscribed raised letters stating "Somerset," with the initials "CC" on either side of a shield displaying a griffin. The left side is inscribed with "Milverton 5," while the right side reads "Taunton 3." It appears that the stone has been relocated, as Taunton is actually to the right and Milverton to the left.
