ST51NW CHILTHORNE DOMER CP MAIN STREET (West side) 3/60 The Manor House, and well 500 mm to north of porch 19.4.61 GV II Detached house. C17, modified, late C20 additions by Frank Taylor, master mason. Ham stone ashlar; Welsh slate roofs between coped gables; stone slab chimney stacks. T-plan: 2 storeys with attic; north elevation 7 bays of which bays 6 and 7 are C20. Hollow chamfered mullioned windows in wave mould recess, labels to lower windows and upper bays 3 and 4; 2-light bay 1 and 7, 3-light upper bay 3, bay 4, lower bay 5 and bay 6; no window upper bay 5; dormer window over bay 6: to bay 2 a projecting porch with cambered arched doorway and circular light over, single light windows to sides, obelisk finial to gable, this also C20 addition; chamfered cambered arched doorway between bays 4/5, no label. In east and west walls of projection tall windows with transomes, upper window in gabled dormer, also cambered arched doorway and projecting chimney stack; windows mostly 4-light above and 5-light below. Inside, original cross passage: in east room a 4 m wide fireplace with elm cross beam and side oven: middle room early C18, fielded panelling with moulded timber coving, 6-panel doors and unusual beaded surround fireplace and shell hood cupboard: early C19 staircase. Probably traces of east gable stair in first floor cupboard; in south wing some early C17 panelling with door, relocated, and C19 stone fireplace with Vagg arms on keystone. Roof has slightly cambered collar trusses; wattle and daub partition at east end, with cambered arched doorway. Immediately north of porch a well with glass cover.
