Description
This is a wall that encloses a garden, barn, and outbuilding, located on the south side, 200 metres north of Alfoxton Park Hotel. It dates from the 18th century and is constructed from Sampford Brett red sandstone and blue lias random rubble, with brick dressings. The barn features a corrugated iron half hipped roof and has three segmental-headed unglazed openings along with a central pointed arch doorway, all surrounded by brick. The interior of the barn is rendered and has a collar and truss roof. To the left, there is a single-storey long outbuilding with a double Roman tiled roof and a pointed arch opening. The rear elevations of both structures facing the farmyard have square-headed openings. The wall itself is about 5 metres high, buttressed in parts, and has pantile coping, enclosing a rectangular garden. In the center of the west wall, there is a pointed arch opening with a brick surround. An aviary that was shown on the Ordnance Survey map as being attached to the external east wall was demolished in the early 20th century.
