Description
Laurel Cottage is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is built of random rubble with a slate roof, featuring coped verges and tall 20th-century brick stacks at each end. The design is Gothic in style. The building has two storeys with three bays, where the centre bay slightly projects forward. There are three gables on kneelers at the front, with coping, and a string course that mimics the rise of the central gable. The windows are casements with glazing bars set in deeply chamfered stone surrounds, and the ground floor has stopped labels above the windows. The central door opening also has a similar stone surround with a four-centred head and a stopped label above it, leading to a ribbed door. In front of the cottage, there is a low rubble wall with dressed segmental coping, a central gateway, and a plank gate.
