Description

Corner Stores is a shop and house located at one end of a row, with origins dating from the late 16th century and alterations from the early 19th century. The building features painted rubble with dressed quoins on the left side and a double Roman tile roof that is hipped to the left, with a brick stack on the right. The main facade is oriented at right angles to the street.

The front of the building is two storeys high and consists of one bay. On the first floor, there is a sash window with glazing bars set in a plain stone surround. The ground floor has a single light shop front from the late 20th century, which includes a three-quarter glazed door with a side-light.

The main frontage, which returns to Goose Street, is also two storeys tall and has three bays. It features three-light moulded stone mullioned windows with stopped labels on the first floor, and similar openings with one and three lights on the ground floor. There are two mid-19th century shop fronts, each with six lights, with the rightmost being more elaborate, featuring flanking pilasters that support a fascia board. To the extreme left, there is a broad door opening with a studded plank door that has iron strap hinges, set in a bead moulded wooden surround.
