Description

This is a stable with a loft above, located at the rear of Winpenny in Kingston St Mary. It dates from the early 19th century and is built of random rubble sandstone with brick dressings and infill at the gable ends, topped with a slate roof. The stable has a two-storey design, featuring a central loft opening with a hoist above and ground floor openings beneath wooden lintels, flanking a central entrance. One of the openings is currently undergoing restoration, and there is a central plank door. A garage to the right is not included in the listing.

Additionally, there is a wall made of red sandstone random rubble that forms the plinth of the stable and extends southeast for about 25 meters, although the coping is obscured by ivy. The stable and wall are significant features in the street scene, situated about 20 meters south of the entrance to the Church of St Mary. The building is primarily listed for its group value.
