Description
Redbridge Cottage is a cottage that was originally built in the 15th or 16th century and has undergone rebuilding and alterations in the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as modern changes. It features random rubble and coursed rubble Doulting stone with ashlar quoins. The north gable has an exposed raised cruck frame with half brick hogging, divided into five panels below the collar and resting on a cill. The roof is covered with clay pan tiles and has end gables, along with a brick end chimney stack on an exposed stone chimney breast that has offsets. The cottage has a two-storey "T"-plan layout. Most of the windows are modern, but there are three 2-light windows that have been cut from the solid stone, featuring chamfers and half round heads. The door is also modern. Inside, there is said to be much evidence of the early timber-framed structure, which is now mainly concealed, including a second cruck frame and chamfered collar and tie beam trusses with carved wind braces.
