Description
The Hinks is a cottage that dates back to the 15th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infill, brick replacement walling, and a high sandstone rubble plinth. The roofs are covered with plain tiles, and there are external brick stacks at the end gables, along with a detached stack at the left end. Originally, it was a cruck hall house consisting of three framed bays, of which two complete cruck-framed bays are still visible. The left bay's gable end has been rebuilt in brick. The cottage is single storey with an attic that includes dormers. The framing consists of three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate. The front elevation displays irregular fenestration, featuring two large 20th-century casements, three two-light casements, two rectangular lights on the ground floor, and two gabled dormers with two-light casements. The main entrance is accessed through a 20th-century lean-to glazed porch located at the right gable end. The left gable end has an attic light with a cambered head and also includes a lean-to extension.
