Description
The West Somerset Hotel, located at No. 17 Swain Street, is probably an early 19th-century building with later additions. It features a stucco exterior and a slate roof with brick chimney stacks. The hotel is two storeys high and has a road frontage divided into two sections. The earlier part on the left has three windows, which are sashes with glazing bars and exposed frames, along with pilasters. The right-hand section is set slightly back and has a five-window elevation, with sashes, some of which also have glazing bars. There is a stringcourse present. The building includes two doorways, one of which is centrally located and blocked. To the right, there is a wide coach arch with a flat arch and plain boarded double doors.
