Description
The Methodist Church, originally built as a Wesleyan Chapel in 1871, is designed in the Early English style. It features squared, random coursed red sandstone with hamstone ashlar dressings around the windows, porch, and buttresses. The building has a high coped gable and a pitched slate roof adorned with finials, standing at one and a half storeys.
The east front is divided into three bays by full height angle buttresses, with the central bay slightly projecting forward. Each side bay contains two-light lancet windows with tracery and hood moulds, while the central bay boasts a large five-light window with geometrical tracery. A gabled porch, accessed by a flight of stone steps, has a cusped arched opening.
The side elevations are divided into four bays, featuring two-stage buttresses and four two-light windows with geometrical tracery. At the west end, there is a projecting section topped with a hipped slate roof.
