Description
Sea View Terrace is a row of four mid-19th century houses prominently located on a rise. Number 1, positioned alongside Govier’s Lane, projects forward from the rest of the terrace and is likely the earliest of the four. The houses are rendered in stucco, with hipped slate roofs. Numbers 1 to 4 have three storeys, except for Number 1 which has two, as does the angled bay windows to the front, featuring sashes with glazing bars. Number 1 also features an oriel window on brackets at the second floor, with sashes and glazing bars, overlooking Govier’s Lane. Numbers 2, 3 and 4 have stucco facades, slate roofs with deep eaves, and brick chimney stacks. These houses are two storeys high, with rusticated quoins. Numbers 2 and 4 each have a three-window front, while Number 3 has a two-window front. All windows are sashes with glazing bars, and are framed by voussoirs and keystones above. Central doorways have a semi-circular arch and are fitted with panelled doors.
